I agree with others that there will continue to be good deals on the iBook in the future.
You have to be very careful about the 120 days same as cash deal. I have no contact with the current company. The one prior would charge interest from day one if not paid off by the 120th day. So be very careful.
Just purchase whenever you feel comfortable. Best to buy what you need when you need the Mac.

As a peripheral survivor of Hurricanes Hugo, Fran, and Floyd, among others, I think the big things that people learn are:
1. Don't build TOO close to the shore. There's simply way too much footage of ber-expensive beach houses falling into the water when a storm erodes away the sand from underneath the house.
2. Design and build for a hurricane environment. My aunt and uncle live on Masonboro Sound in Wilmington, and the windows of their house are protected by permanently installed hurricane shutters which they leave up most of the time... if a hurricane is coming, all my uncle has to to is spend 10 minutes walking around the house and knocking out the supports for each shade... the shutter falls down and locks into place (unlocking it and putting the shutter back up is quite a bit more work). Also, the entire house is built on a full slab, on top of which there is an 8-foot high layer of brick and concrete before the house proper. With this design, they went through Floyd, Isabel, and a few other storms with ZERO damage.
3. Don't build in a flood plain. This is good advice ANYWHERE, although some people are obviously too stupid to heed it.

I never moved any system files and never would. The only things i put, or tried to put, on the external was 1 sample library for elektrik piano and the saved songs in my garageband folder. thats it.
I guess this drive is just either faulty or way too slow to meet my needs. I contacted the company about a refund/return ..we'll see

Why don't you go to the website of the manufacturer and look for a driver for OS X? I'm assuming this is an HP, if it is, they have a bunch of drivers that sometimes have to be installed first.

I haven't pre-ordered, but at this point do you think it will make any difference. I plan on heading to the Apple store at 6:00 am or so.
I reserved mine and I still plan on getting to the Apple store about 5-6am on Fri. :)

Fingers crossed they update the PBs or drop prices :D
Did you read the rest, it was down for about 5 minutes to change the .mac page. That's it so far.

Hey guys, sorry if this question is asked often.
I have an iPod Touch 4G that I had jailbroken on 4.2.1, but I messed with some system files that I shouldn't have messed with and I had to restore and update to 4.3. Is there anyway I can downgrade to 4.2.1 so I can jailbreak again?
You can but its very complicated you must have your 4.2.1 file saved

As I said before...
PowerMac G5 = DIMMs in PAIRS
4 DIMM or 8 DIMMs do not matter, all PowerMac G5s use memory in pairs -- due to dual channel memory.
Single channel is 1 DIMM installed at a time, the PowerMac G5 is NOT one of these machines. Therefore install 2 at a time.
OK. thanks. I was at the apple store today and i told the salesperson that i wanted 1 gig of ram. he offered me a 1 gb stick, or two 512s. That's why i was confused. I told him that i thought they needed to be in pairs, and he said no.
thanks.

How old are some of you people anyway?
I mean, what kind of person goes around wondering whether other people think he has an Iphone or an Ipod touch?
Get a life or grow up, or both!
They are obviously young people and that's what young people do.
Get a grip man !! don't tell people what they should or shouldn't be doing because it doesn't conform with your world view. . .

I preordered, personally. I'm looking forward to getting
home from work and having my family pack already there without having to go wait in line. Launch day purchases can be fun for new products, but it hasn't been very long since getting my iPhone and somehow waiting for a DVD doesn't seem that exciting. :)

Lol I am a guy. Blondie was just my nickname from high school. But yeah, I was wondering if the warranty would still cover my cracks for free as well. I have a few friends that have had issues with their 2009 MacBook plastic cracking as well. So I think they may head into apple and see what they can do.
Sorry :p let's hope the 2009 and later macbooks don't start cracking on everybody:(

I opted to get the 4GB version, but waited until the refurb was available (they go quickly so check often and jump when it's in stock). I got it for $929 from apple. I would recommend a plastic case/sleeve/keyboard cover from ebay as they are less than $30 shipped and add very little as far as bulk/weight, but do a nice job of keeping the unit scratch-free and protected (not from drops, of course)

here's a list of the DVD drives I'd recommend. The top 2 are DVD ROM's and the second 2 are DVD burners. For the air I doubt you'd need a burner but for $10 more why not? The cables they come with have a mini USB (plugs into drive) and 2 standard USB cables, but you only need to connect one of them in order to use the drive (the one with 2 cables coming out of it, you'll understand once you look at it)

1) They are 2 distinct drives in the Finder.
2) Wherever you designate your download folder, that is where you will download items. Manypeople use the SSD as the boot drive for the OS and applications, storing Home folder data/files on the HD.

Safari 5.1 on Lion for me is, without exaggeration, 4 times faster loading pages than 5.0.3 on SL. It's insanely fast loading anything from HTML5 to Flash content.
It's not just snappier, it's in a different realm.

I don't think anyone actually thought TiBooks/iBooks would be updated at Paris...
the only hints have been low powerbook supply reports (which are nonspecific), and a competely BS report about dual G5's via reader email at MacBidouille.

Indeed. I just spent 3-4 hours restoring my phone after updating to 4.3.2. I will update whence iOS 5 doth show itself.
Besides, I think the tracking thing is pretty neat :D
Have you ever looked at the location file that saves on your PC? If so, can you tell me where iTunes saves it?
Thanks

I think I've figured out what the issue is, so I'm posting for the benefit of any user who may come across this problem in the future.
I was sharing a folder on an NTFS partition on my hard drive. The NTFS partition is intended to be used as a shared storage space between my dual-boot OS's of Windows 7 and OS X on my MacBook (since Windows 7 is unable to read from the HFS+ file system that OS X uses).
When I tried sharing a folder on my Macintosh HD (in the HFS+ file system), I was able to have the settings stick. I'm not sure why it didn't allow the settings for the NTFS volume to stick, especially since I have NTFS-3G installed to enable write access to the volume, as well as read. (By default, OS X doesn't allow write access to NTFS file systems). I'm guessing that this is a bug that would be fixed in the future when OS X supports writing to NTFS volumes natively.
So, if you want to share something on your Mac over the network, and you want to define users and their permissions, you should make sure that the folders that you're sharing are on a drive or partition formatted to HFS+.
